I Shall Not Want

I love songs that help me to pray what is in my heart.  This song came to me through my Pandora station and is such a poignant reflection of the fact that if we are really delivered from these things, we can be totally FREE!  Jesus said, “You will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:22)  The truth about these things is clear all throughout His Word, and if we can really know it in our hearts and not just our heads, then we truly “shall not want” for anything!

“I Shall Not Want”

by Audrey Assad

From the love of my own comfort
From the fear of having nothing
From a life of worldly passions
Deliver me O God

From the need to be understood
From the need to be accepted
From the fear of being lonely
Deliver me O God
Deliver me O God

And I shall not want, I shall not want
When I taste Your goodness I shall not want
When I taste Your goodness I shall not want

From the fear of serving others
From the fear of death or trial
From the fear of humility
Deliver me O God
Deliver me O God

And I shall not want, I shall not want
When I taste Your goodness I shall not want

No, I shall not want, I shall not want
When I taste Your goodness I shall not want
I shall not want, I shall not want
